The truth.

Please ignore this ramble.  It is being made for documentation purposes. ^ Indicates that time is an estimate.

Disclaimer: I am making this so that I have documentation of the events as they happened.  I do not see Autism / Asperger's as a disease or disorder that requires a cure.  The minds of my children are wired differently than most and I am fine with that.  I grew up with this.  Any attempt to misconstrue my words or to take them out of context will be considered a blatant lie.  That said, I will defend my rights as a parent to protect and provide for my children.  There is no person on this planet qualified to address the needs of my children better than my spouse and I.  I have chosen to make this public because no parent should have to endure a government process of any kind that would seek to subvert their unalienable rights. I am not, under any circumstances, implied or otherwise, giving up any rights by publishing this information.  Information that is considered private and protected, including information that may be in any document that is protected under FERPA, IDEA, HIPPA, or any other statute, law, or whatever you want to call the rules now.

CPS = Child Protective Services
CPES = Child Safety and Evaluation Plan
ARD = Admission, Review, and Dismissal process
IEP = Independent Educational Plan

For the record:
    I have 4 children.
    The older children have been diagnosed with forms of Autism and Asperger's.
    I suspect that I have undiagnosed Asperger's.
    My spouse has been diagnosed with dyslexia and has a tendency to confuse events and misinterpret conversations during stressful situations.
    I work for the school district.
    I did not use my position to obtain any benefits that would be otherwise provided to any other parent.

    Received call from spouse.  Spouse was very upset.  Spouse stated "It's important.  CPS just came to the house."
    I replied, "What? What for?"
    She replied, "They had a complaint that the kids smelled like urine at school."
    I replied, "Ok.  Um...I'll talk to you when I get home."
    She replied, "I'm scared."
    Call ended.  I was longer able to focus on work and advised my boss that I had to go take care of something.
    Left work, went home.

    Arrived Home.  Reviewed paperwork left by CPS.  Information provided by CPS did not indicate reason for visit.
    I would later learn that this was a CSEP.

April 14th, 2008 @ 15:15 ^

    Arrived at my child's school.  For the record, I have 4 children of which 3 attend school.  The CSEP implies that they are looking at all 4.
    I was prepared to request a conversation with the Principal or Assistant Principal.  As I work for the school district, I can only surmise that the Principal is more likely to know who I am.  It is highly possible that he is 'just that good' and knows the parents of the children who attend school.  The Principal was outside of the school as school was letting out.  As I approached, I was addressed by name.  I waited for the Principal to finish with the student / administrator they were speaking with and asked, "Who do I speak to about making a modification to an IEP/ARD?"  I was given the administrators name and directed to the office as they should still be in the building.  I then proceeded to the office and requested to speak with said administrator.  The administrator did not answer the phone and I then requested that they page them.
    The office staff then asked if I would like to speak with someone else.  I asked if the Vice Principal was available as I had previously spoken with the VP about my children.  I was asked to be seated and the VP would be with me shortly.  As I waited, the administrator came into the office and stated that the Principal had said I was looking for them.  I apologized for being bad with names / faces as I couldn't see the administrators name tag and the administrator identified themselves by first name.  I explained the situation in as much detail as I could and requested that a formal review be made to determine if the proper documentation existed concerning the toileting issues that are a symptom of their disorder.
    This resulted in a meeting between myself, the administrator and the VP.  The result of this meeting was a Parent - Teacher Conference addressing my concerns and outlining that the toileting issues should be addressed as part of the IEP/ARD that would cover my children receiving such services.
