The truth. Part 3.

|
Got a call from the spouse today at about 3pm.  Wife said "CPS is demanding entry to the house."
I replied, "Tell them to come back when I'm home."
Call ended.  I went and told the boss that I needed to go take care of "my problem."
Packed up, walked out, called home to let my wife know I was on the way home.
She says, "The lady isn't happy but she left and said she'd come back tomorrow after 5pm."

I hate stupid people.  I really hate stupid people with over-inflated egos who think they have equal power to God.

The saga continues.

The truth. Part 2.

Just a quick update.  Still haven't heard back.  Tried to contact them multiple times, no return call.  I'm in the process of reviewing all of the laws and preparing for the possibility that this is going to be a long uphill battle to ensure that the rights of my children aren't being violated.

The truth.

Get Off your Lazy arse and do something

I've been pretty lazy recently.  With being sick, having a fairly newborn (ok, so she is 7 months), and trying to squeeze out some time for myself I haven't really done much in the way of keeping the world informed.  This post is a combination of things relating to all of the above and then some.

Madison, the 7 month old drooling, teething, biting, growling, screeching, clawing monster is keeping us on our toes.  Just when we thought we might be able to get some rest, since she had started sleeping better at night, she starts teething.  And for those of you that don't know or have intentionally forgotten, that means she doesn't sleep better at night.  She has also expedited her crawling / army man movements such that she is more than ready to jump up and take off.  She has been working those leg muscles and is now starting to try and pull herself up which, if the past is any indication, means she could be walking in the next couple months.  And here I thought I could put off getting baby gates.  Some older pictures can be seen here and I promise to get some of the newer ones up soon.

The weather has had kind of an on again / off again thing with the sun lately which really means that while all of our northern neighbors get snow, ice and all that other nastiness we get cold and that is followed up by hot.  The cold and hot business has just aggravated our allergies and caused sinus infections, ear infections, pneumonia, strep throat, and the common cold.  Add to that the fact that neither car has a working heater and / or air conditioner and you'll see just how miserable a 45 minute drive to work can really be.  At least I have iTunes / iPod and XMU / XM Radio to keep me company.

After a little more than a year of over-the-air TV we've finally gotten a better TV signal.  About 3 weeks ago AT&T turned on the UVerse service for our neighborhood.  And of course when they offer to install it for free and give the first month free it makes it a pretty easy sell.  Not to mention that we get more channels (not like we need them all) and pay less than we would for cable.  My first impression of the service is a positive one.  I'll reserve any other opinions for a later date and time.

I don't feel so well.

I've been dealing with allergies over the last couple of months and needless to say I've been feeling pretty miserable.

It got so bad that I took the day off on Friday and went to see the doc.  I hate doctors.  Nothing against them but I hate popping pills just to get by.

Anyhow, I go in and the doctor tells me I have Strep Throat!  I've been drugged up and passed out for the last couple of days and I'm not really feeling up for work tomorrow but I'm gonna try.

Anyone else ever wish they could win the lottery just so they could stay home and rest?

WOW is EVIL!

I made the mistake of wandering into the World of Warcraft (aka Warcrack) a couple weeks ago.  I haven't left since.  Any free time I have is spent killing Worgs and Bloodrage Howlers among other things.  I've taken a warlock to level 21 in just 3 days and I am even tempted to buy another computer just so that my wife can join me as she has shown an interest as well.  My children gather round the glow of the monitor and watch as I dispatch enemies and cheer me on to victory.

11 weeks and counting

Madison is now 11 weeks old (or will be in about 6 hours) and continues to be just as active as she was during the pregnancy.  She gets up around 7 in the morning and doesn't go to sleep till almost 11 at night.  She will usually wake up at least once around 3 in the morning begging for a diaper change and something to eat.

She eats rice cereal in the morning and half a jar of stage 1 baby food in the afternoon.

She pitches a fit when I leave in the morning and screams if I'm not home at my normal time.  She will sit and coo at me for at least an hour when I get home before deciding that she is bored with me and screaming for momma.

This one is gonna be trouble.

Typable Move

When I started blogging many years ago, there was Wordpress, an early non-free edition of Movable Type and several other not-so-great attempts.

With the release of Movable Type 4 I have chosen to dump Wordpress for what appears to be a cleaner, more professional blogging engine.  Not to say that I didn't like Wordpress but I didn't like having to update every 2 weeks to a new version and not having reliable plugin support.

So far, so good.

We.

It's very easy to forget that everything I have could be gone in the blink of an eye.

The freedom that I have to live without fear is slowly eroding in order to protect me from 'Terrorism'.  But what really scares me the most is that my children or my grand-children may grow up in a world that is so radically different.

This disgusts me to no end.  I have no desire to start a fight, but if we should be anywhere, it would be there.
